I buy this cheese every year for my husband's birthday. It's next to impossible to find extra sharp cheese out west and happily for us we can order it from Sugarbush. We always spring for $4 the ice pack since delivery can be unreliable and the ice pack keeps the cheese cool. This is our absolute favorite cheese.
I try to order this every year, especially if I did not get to Vermont. When it comes, I promise myself to make it last through the Holidays. It never does. My husband and I eat it for breakfast, lunch, dinner and in between. It gets shameless. Why? Simply because this is the all-time premium Vermont cheddar. It is so smooth yet with a crisp tang that melts into nutty sweetness. If left out for a couple of hours before eating it mellows into a complex taste experience that rivals any cheddar from England. It can be eaten with nothing or anything: crackers, breads, fruit. It just pairs beautifully with a huge range of foods, I've even eaten it with pineapple. It was delightful. I so love this cheese that I would recommend it to anyone. Just a perfect cheese!
I love sharp cheddar and supporting family farms and businesses and keeping them running as such. What a joyous way to do so. This cheese deserves to be enjoyed in a relaxed manner. It is so good, you may consider a two pound block a single serving!
